News Update:
Cross Country
First off The National Junior & Even Ages Cross Country was held in Santry Demense. Absolutely perfect weather for racing and indeed spectating. Rhys Johnson gave us an absolute epic race. Filled with drama and had us holding our breath right up until he crossed the line. Despite a fall with 800m to go he charged for the finish and a much coveted top 10 National Placing with 8th place securely in his pocket. Along with Rhys’ first individual National medal with his Leinster team mates secured the province the gold medal spot.
U12s Fred Dick and Patrick Gordon gained invaluable experience in their first National XC Championships finishing strong in a very large contingent of 171 U12 athletes. Sean Behan in the U16 boys race took on the 4000m distance and finishing in the top 3rd of the field.
U18s and Juniors were represented by Caoimhe Dempsey, Aoife Dempsey, Caoimhe Gavin, Emma Tisdell and Sarah Rowland. Our U18 girls taking a top 10 Club team placing and Sarah Rowland powering home to an excellent top 20 place in the Junior race with the 18th spot.
Road/Beach Racers
Our Road Racing crew were in action all over the country with a large contingent taking on the Clontarf Half Marathon – Barry O’Connell, Stephen Dunbar, Ann-Marie Feely, Kitty Kissane, Emmet Norton, Alan Devitt, Kenneth Clerkin, Tara Finn – and 5 miler – Ger McKechnie, Jenny McGrath, Roz Gillen, Catherine Harrison and Anne Maria Crowley. Some shiney new PBs too for Barry O’Connell and Stephen Dunbar.
Rory O’Toole headed to Cork and the Clonakilty marathon, Sarah Kearns headed to Lusk to the EOI 20 miler taking 3rd and first woman home.
Absolutely excellent racing despite the winds that Arwyen brought with her!
Irish Vest Alert!
The very best of luck to Allison Dempsey, heading to Scotland representing Ireland on the School’s combined team.
Date for your diaries!
In place of our traditional Christmas Party our fantastic team of Christmas Elves are organising fun relays at the track on the 11th December from 2pm! This promises to be excellent fun with the teams made up of mixed ages and abilities. Christmas jumpers/hats are encouraged! You never know a coaches team might assemble and give it socks too!
After the relays the Club Annual Awards will be presented. It truly promises to be a great day celebrating all our wonderful athletes.
Please get in touch with your coaches for further information.
A very big thank you to all involved in making this happen.
